Many of the lesson planning ideas found at these links can be used to make Montessori control cards for the younger set. The book Modern Montessori at Home: A Creative Teaching Guide for Parents of Children 10 through 12 Years of Age contains lesson planning ideas for a study of the ancient Egyptian and Mayan cultures. The history, music, art, mythology, counting, numbers and glyphs are just some of the topics that are compared and contrasted to help children see the similarities and differences of these two ancient cultures. Please visit your local library to borrow a copy of this book. This book is available on CD from the AMC Montessori Bookstore. Please see AMC Montessori Bookstore for complete details.

Birdcage Press offers a museum quality game, entitled Go Fish for Ancient Egypt. I have examined the game and accompanying book and was very impressed with what I saw. Please see photo below. A student in a Montessori environment will enjoy the beautiful pictures accompanied by well written text. The game cards are of superb quality, as well, and will lend themselves to many extended Montessori style learning activities.

Please see below for complete details.
